| We live in a large metropolitan US city and we’ve been out of the Morg for just over 18 months. We are slowly turning the house we could afford into the house we would like to live in, and today we were getting around to an electrical project we’ve been planning. We had first contacted this LDS electrician about 2 years ago for this project, and called him today to get the ball rolling.
He came by the house, we talked it over, he made a shopping list. We asked him his rate, he said it was $25/hour (he was doing this on the side; he usually works for other companies as an electrician). He and DH went shopping for the parts. DH found out that the electrician had lost his job earlier today, although he was with the union and could expect a new job by Wednesday. We make our own wine, so DH inquired as to whether the electrician was still LDS, with the intention of offering him a bottle of wine to soften the blow to his wife. To which the electrician replied, “I do not associate myself with that kind of spirit. I prefer to associate myself with the Spirit that makes me feel good.” DH thought that was a strange response…but, whatever. At about 4:50 pm today the electrician left our home and had agreed to return Monday @ 8am to start the project. DH & I played in the back yard with the kids for a while and missed the phone call from his wife at 5pm – she left a message. It is PRICELESS. DH & I are in complete and utter shock. It is as follows: (The voice inflections are amazing, you can hear it for yourself at defaulticm000437.wav -- personal info has been edited out. Alternatively another link for an MP3 version of this file. Special Thanks to a reader for converting the file for me. defaulticm000437.mp3) We’re not really sure how to respond. We’ve decided pretending we never heard it would be best. SingingMom |
