Why LDSFreedom.org
In Mormon Circles, we were the perfect LDS family. We had just given birth to boy twins. Alisa was staying home with them; Paul was working to support the family. We were both returned missionaries from active LDS families, married in Salt Lake Temple, with callings in the local ward.
But underneath the Mormon facade, Paul had come to realize that Mormonism just couldn't be what it claimed to be: it didn't work for him. Alisa was struggling to understand Paul's point of view, and also dealing with guilt from all of the Sundays missed due to the pregnancy and the challenges of taking care of infant twins.
One day it all changed. Alisa was researching the word of wisdom, got off on a tangent, and POOF! Truth came shattering through her life, smashing her Mormon ideas to bits. Shards don't go back together. And when there is light where before there was darkness, there is no going back.
Paul was thrilled -- we were a married couple now much more on the same page, and that always helps. In our journey we have embraced atheism, and with it have created a sure foundation upon which we can base our life together.
It is our desire with this website that other people may discover facts and truth that have been hidden. We think of it as a repository of facts about the LDS Church, and hope that through it others will be able to examine their lives and make informed decisions about their religious beliefs. Truth really does have the power to set us all free.
